So where do you go to school and what do you study?
I go to community college and study business management. I want to double major in psychology but haven't gone to the advising department and done that yet. I'll get on it...

I waaaaas going to college for my general education in hopes to transfer to a 4-year university and major in Biology, and go to medical school to eventually get into cardiology. But I dropped out last fall because I got too overwhelmed with classes. At the moment I can't afford to pay for school...so I'm just working part-time at Spencer's at the mall.

AWW MAN No student loans or financial aid or anything? That stinks. It's so depressing when that happens to students. I'm running low on funds myself. But I'll make it work damnit >_>

My sister goes to the University of Texas Austin and my brother goes to Austin Community College... I'm currently job hunting, I think my sister aspires to be a dentist or a vet while my brother is still undecided.
I kinda want to be a nude model for Cosplay Deviants but I need to work on my image

I've been a broke college student for two years now, and I am going onto my third. My major is English education, meaning one day, I get to teach young adults about how Romeo and Juliet is NOT a love story, but two horny-ass teenagers who didn't know shit about life.

Just finished my last year of sixth form; which would probably be senior year of high school, I think. We don't have high school graduations here in England Applied for university to do Genetics this September. Probably not though because I don't think I'll get the grades Might have to repeat the year which sucks, but it's university or nothing. What's a community college? Is it a university? Do you go there after you graduate high school? Why do you guys call university 'college'? I'm so confused. I don't get how the American education system works and all this American lingo

Community colleges usually tend to be cheaper than universities/state colleges, and tend to have credits that are easily transferrable to unis/state colleges. Community colleges usually only offer associate's degrees (two years of study). People tend to attend these because it can be cheaper than doing four years at a uni/state college, especially if they got very few grants and scholarships.
University and college tend to be mutually exclusive and is where people can head after they finish community college or, if they have the money (whether from loans/grants/scholarships or just rich family) they can start right away after their final year of public education - either way, the goal for most is to earn at least a bachelor's degree.
I, uh ... hope that made some sense??

Ahh, makes sense. So do you guys not get any financial help for your university fees? We have Student Finance England. we don't have to pay any tuition fees upfront at all & only start paying back once we've graduated uni and earn over a certain amount. If we're unemployed the payments stop until we start earning again. I think everyone qualifies for it, no matter what their income/background. It gets written off after 30 years. Now I've realised how easy we have it. Also, is an associate's degree not the same as a bachelor's degree from university then? But is it regarded the same level? Sorry for all the questions haha. I'm just trying to understand :/

We can get grants or scholarships, which can be need or merit-based. Loans are our deadly killers: we get hit with them big and if you're out of school for more than six months then you start paying them back, regardless of graduation status. If you're lucky, all three will cover everything you need for school, but most people aren't and they still end up paying out of pocket for things like textbooks, which we all know aren't exactly cheap.
Our loans never get written off; you can be unemployed and about to go bankrupt and the loaners will still want their money. I think there's something in place that will cut your repayments down by, at most, half for people going into teaching or similar. Essentially, the only escape from loans is to flee the country and give up your citizenship.
Associate's degrees are basically the lowest level degree you can get. They used to be worth something when hunting for jobs, but most everyone now wants at least a bachelor's, which is the second highest tier - this is probably due to the fact that now so many people go to college. After that, you go into master's and phd programs and the like, which are basically the holy grails that still don't guarantee you a job - I knew a guy at my old job with a master's, but he was stuck in retail working inventory and back of house because that was all he could get.
You should feel very, very lucky that your higher education situation isn't as ridiculous as it is over here. What makes it worse is that tuition rates keep rising at unprecedented levels because the colleges know they can ask for more money since we can keep taking out more and more in loans. The more loans can be given out, the more colleges raise their prices, which encourages taking out more loans ... It's an endless cycle that might end up exploding like we saw the housing market do several years back.

I found out... my sister is SELLING PLASMA TO PAY OFF HER LOANS! She's been working 2 jobs AND going to the University of Texas as well as Austin Community College, her apartment is covered by the friend she moved in with but ultimately she's been literally bleeding for her education/living situation.
The sad thing is, if she followed the path I was thinking about (modeling in the nude)... she'd probably feel "disgraced" but she'd have money to help pay for her expenses and she might have fun with it.

You can get like $75 for plasma ... I'd definitely do it. In fact, I've been contemplating. Blood, too. And if my hair was still virgin ...
There is a dignified way to be nude for money that isn't seedy cam shows: life drawing. But I suppose that depends on whether people drawing your junk can be considered disgraceful or not.

the two sites I applied for and know models for are actually quite respectful, they're not seedy cams at all... in fact they almost require you to have a photographer you know personally

Selling blood, eh? Wonder how much that'd cost? Though knowing my track record with blood and needles, it may not be worth it.
