Pocahontas + Smurfs = James Cameron's Avatar...
I wish I was kidding about that analogy, but it fits all too well. (I think I should add cats to that equation though... and sorry to say it, but Zoe Saldana does not make me want to see the movie any more. though she is really easy on the eyes)

I will add cats and sci-fi technology to that equation and make it make even less sense

And thus the movie is perfectly summarized.

Hey, I'm all for some eyegasming over pretty graphics. Hell, I'm going to see fucking Bunraku whenever the hell it finds a release date and it's all eyecandy ... and Gackt.
Mmm, Gackt.
oh and some Hollywood actors but who gives a fuck there's GACKT.

I found Ron Perlman... You have Gackt, and I've got Perlman to root for.

I've been keeping an eye on this since 2008, so happy waiting Lily.
People who've seen it at film festivals said that it's actually kinda ... erm ... not that great, but I don't give a rat's ass I've waited too long for this. I WILL SEE IT, REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD IT IS.

Oh. Well, if it isn't so great, it's gonna stay in Development Hell.

some things are never meant to be... whether they are terrible or truly exceptional, that is up to the audience to decide. I wish directors and producers would realize that instead of worrying about the damned money they need to make back because they blow the budget on non movie related items

Thing is, I'm pretty sure most of the audience who's seen the movie so far consist of ... well, Gackt fangirls haha. At the Toronto Film Festival premiere, he got a standing ovation during the Q&A session (meanwhile, the other actors shuffled awkwardly next to him on stage).
I'm still hopeful it gets some sort of theater release around the country, seeing as there's so many other big names involved in it.
