Aww, sorry about the image. Shows up fine on my end, though, which is weird.
But yes, Howl's Moving Castle. I'm convinced that I saw it before as a child, but I cannot put my finger on it or not. I'm kind of interested in borrowing some more Miyazaki films. There's a guy at my anime club who has Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and My Neighbor Totoro.

TOTOROOOOO that was my first Ghibli film and it will forever remain in my heart as the greatest thing ever. Spirited Away is also freaking amazing ('twas one of the last movies I watched with my mother) and sdlfkjsdf just like everything is good.
but never watch Grave of the Fireflies or you'll be crying forever because that is the most depressing thing ever.

Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies) is one of the saddest films I have ever seen, to make matters worse... I was forced to watch it with a teacher when forming the first anime club at my old high school. I hate screening anime for punkass kids who won't appreciate the classics

Aw, come on, princess, I don't want to spoil the ending. Wouldn't make much sense if I tried explaining it anyway.
And I have already been warned many a time to never, under any circumstances, EVER watch Grave of the Fireflies, because you will bawwwww forever.

First time I watched it was a Sunday night. I had just gotten out of the shower, it came on like TMC or whatever, and I stayed up until fucking midnight and by the time it was over I wanted to sit in a dark corner and never leave.
It almost made me cry, but seeing as I'm not a big bawwwer it didn't quite bring me to that point.
And when I rewatched it once at the beginning I had a minor moment of squick when the station guard dude whatever tasted one of the bits that fell out of the candy container because I fucking realized what was in it and I was all OHGOD WHYYY.

Princess, it's enchanting at times, especially the vivid colors.

As with every work from those studios, it's like magic in your eyes haha.
srsly though, book series. Wonderful. Read it. Book Howl is glorious in so many ways. I was saddened that the movie condensed so much of the plot.

Book Howl... got it. I felt like they really rushed the war subplot. Like, why there was a war in the first place.

Yeah, that's slightly expanded on more in the book (along with various other things) - the whole war thing was given a quick, barely-there explanation in the end. Although if you go for the second book in the series, try not to be put off by the new main cast. It all comes together in the end.
