1. I love Amazon.com and their option to buy cheap used books. So recommend some good ones to me! I especially like stories involving teenagers (people my age). I abhor mystery novels though. I'm also not a fan of mushy romance novels (it's okay if there's a romance plot somewhere, but if the whole thing is romance, then nah).
2. I have a Blockbuster account. I can get two movies out at a time. I'm paying $15 a month for this crap so let's get some good movies in here! I don't mind mystery movies but I still dislike romance movies. So recommend! I like horror movies.

*scratches head, looks at bookshelf* Lesse I have me some Harry Potter all up in there, lots of vampire novels inherited from mah sis, umm ... The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time, The Book Thief ... books en espanol what why are those there?
Movies, uhh. I don't really watch too many movies anymore, so lots of my recommendations are older ones ;A;

In both categories... I say Battle Royale, but skip the sequel as it is not very good. I can't recommend much else at the moment. I'm catching up on movies as well.

Books: I'm more into the fantasy genre myself, usually something D&D styled. If you're interested in them, pick up Homeland by R.A. Salvatore or A Darkness Forged in Fire by Chris Evans.

make some suggestions to what you think she would like to read or watch...
I recommend Scott Pilgrim VS The World (the movie) as well as the books, they are so fun to watch if you like to poke fun at hipsters

Yeah.
Although, if you're ever looking for a mindfuck movie, I recommend Pink Floyd's The Wall

Meh, that movie wasn't all that great. Visually, it was awesome.

People got way too obsessed with that movie. I mean, it was all pretty graphics and ... that's about it. I really didn't see the big deal with it that everyone else did.
