AHKNEE REPORTING IN FOR NOT-SO BREAKING NEWS (which explains why I will never be a journalist)
In a thread sometime last year, we heard of that poll by, uh, Funimation was it? checking interest in entirely redubbing Sailor Moon, among other titles. Of course, many of us all know that Toei has had an iron grip with a resolute "hell no" bitches when it came to redistribution outside of Japan.
In early February, however, Toei began negotiations to redub the entire Sailor Moon series. On the first of this month, a remastered version of the series is airing on Italian stations, with Toei stating that if it's popular in Italy, an international revival is going to be produced.
Albania has also found the series returning to TV. Mexico and other Latin American countries haven't seen one, and aren't go to, according to reports I've been looking into.
Now, anyway, onto specifics. As far as these releases have been, they've been just that - releases. No changes (except to the music for the Italian one, from what I've read), no redubs, nothing. So, in the end, chances of a redub stand low at the moment, especially seeing as we don't have any news on an English release. I guess it will really depend on if a company picks up the possibility for a license on it, and whether they feel it'll be a good investment to do a redub or simply just release the series as we've known it.
More news as it's released and shit since I'm starting to keep a close eye on it because this highly pertains to my interests.

something tells me this will backfire in two ways:
1.) Sailor Moon may not be popular outside of japan anymore
2.) Following suit of the now defunct (as far as I know) 4-kids and Saban licensed shows of yesteryear... Sailor Moon would be rereleased as we know it now. This is a worse sign in my book considering; 1.) I despise DIC's "Dub", 2.) 4-kids' Yu-gi-oh (duel monsters arc before GX) and other shows that currently run on the CW network are terrible and should be redone immediately, and 3.) Saban has ruined a lot of Sentai team shows for me, the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers is being reaired at an obscure time every saturday morning (5 am central to be exact)... after seeing Zyuranger in japanese I cannot go back to Saban's US version.
However I will say this, SABAN'S CRAPTASTIC ZYURANGER REMAKE IS FAR MORE SUPERIOR THAN 4-KIDS' SHITFEST THEY TURNED FOREIGN SHOWS INTO, I WOULD MUCH RATHER WATCH THE ORIGINALS BUT LICENSING IS A BITCH... SABAN WITH IT'S LIMITED FUNDING MANAGED TO NEARLY MAKE AN ORIGINAL PRODUCT OUT OF THEIR "DUB"!!![/u]

Yeah, I must admit, the redubbing of SM would be awesome, but I agree with Kira: look at who we have as the main dubbing companies. 4-Kids is the first to come to mind, and we all know how horrible those dubs are. Studiopolis does Naruto and Bleach, two very popular animes; you be the judge of their quality. I'm not sure what to think of Funimation-- they did Yu Yu Hakusho, and if Sailor Moon landed on CN (doubtful, but AS might look into it), it would be unedited. They also did Case Closed and Dragon Ball (Z).
If I had to pick a company, I'd go for Funimation.

Regardless of who does it and how it's done, it'd be nice to have SM back again. :3

It's very true that the amount of dubbing companies here in the US is slim and ... rather pathetic, what with the majority we have. The best bet for a redub would be Funimation, but the problem is that since the SM fanbase has dissolved over the years into the select few who still vouch that it's a quality series, the company might not bother with it. It's all about what will bring in revenue, and let's face it: these days, the fanbase for anime here in the States consists of pretty much newbies that were introduced in the past five or so years and don't give a rat's ass about the "classics," wanting only newnewnewFRESHOUTTAJAPAN series.
If Sailor Moon were to be redubbed, I'd have faith that if anyone but 4-Kids picked it up, they'd do it without much, if any, editing to the series since the quality of dubs has gone up highly from back when the series was in its first run through here. That would, of course, mean a block on late-night TV on maybe Syfy or AS. If Stars were to end up included in the dubbing process, then that would almost certainly warrant it on one of those two stations.
Another issue to make note of is the fact that SM is a series consisting of 200 episodes, not including the movies and specials. That's a huge chunk of something to take up the thought of dubbing, and whoever might take it up would have to consider that the hardcore fans would be screaming "complete the series! COMPLETE THE SERIES!" which is pretty difficult - a look a Funimation, who's left about two or three series incomplete for an indefinite amount of time which has fans raging.
... phew, I DON'T KNOW WHERE I WAS GOING BUT I WANTED TO BRING UP THOSE POINTS.

Actually, Funimation really finishes shows... albeit they drag their asses about it. I miss the old ADV, they finished shit before ever talking about releasing it... they used to be the biggest rival to Funi and Viz respectively.
I still think 4-kids is defunct... someone told me they went belly up a while back, I pray that our president hasn't bailed them out.

Ah, ADV, I remember thee fondly.
I have doubts Mr. Pres would bail out a company focusing on children's animation when there's handfuls of others to fill the void, anime or not.

I could care less if they redub it. Though DiC's voice for Rini made me want to die. I would just love to see it on television again. Then the popularity would soar and we'd get some more members on here!
Anyway, this right here is why you SHOULD be a journalist: "Toei has had an iron grip with a resolute "hell no" bitches when it came to redistribution outside of Japan."
I seriously LOL'd.
