Well, I must be in a constant state of lethologica since I can't ever remember what words I want to use ...
The custom of shaking hands originated with strangers to show they were unarmed.

This one I learned from TV Tropes.
In the 7000 years that mankind has inhabited Earth, we have only been at total, global peace for 29 years.

The problem with the shaking hands custom is that there are people like me who can still hide senbon needles in their mouth and talk normally...
In truth, I do not believe mankind is ever really at peace with themselves. We are always at war... there doesn't have to be bloodshed to have casualties.

@ahknee- I'm really in a constant state of lethologica. I'll start to say something and then forget what I was going to say and constantly have to ask, "What's that word that I wanted to use...?"
The global peace thing is a pretty sad reality. But I agree with moon yagami. Mankind will never be in a true state of peace, whether globally or mentally. As long as there is good on the world, there has to be some bad to balance things out.
Apples, not caffeine, are more efficient at waking you up in the morning. <---- (Apparently not only does an apple a day keep the doctor away, but it's a great solution for those of us who are not morning people. Interesting.)

Ah, that I knew about.
If the entire lifetime of the planet Earth was condensed into a day, the amount of time mankind has spent on it would be equal to 30 seconds.

Wow.
The 57 on Heinz ketchup bottles represents the number of varieties of pickles the company once had.

John Wilkes Booth's brother once saved the life of Abraham Lincoln's son.

In the past, when a clan no longer wanted a member in it, they would burn down their house. This is where the expression “to get fired” comes from.

Thomas Midgley, Jr. (1889–1944) was an American engineer and chemist who contracted polio at age 51, leaving him severely disabled. He devised an elaborate system of strings and pulleys to help others lift him from bed. This system was the eventual cause of his death when he was accidentally entangled in the ropes of this device and died of strangulation at the age of 55.

LMAO.
It would take 11 Empire State Buildings, stacked one on top of the other, to measure the Gulf of Mexico at its deepest point.

President Kennedy was the fastest random speaker in the world with upwards of 350 words per minute.

The numbers '172' can be found on the back of the U.S. $5 dollar bill in the bushes at the base of the Lincoln Memorial.
(I'm running out of stuff on the website I have bookmarked. Lol.)
