You know, it's kind of nice that SMeyer's page hasn't been updated since the end of March when The Host premiered. According to Movieline.com's article on The Host getting a sequel, besides the fact that there are no sequel books to work off of (duh), the movie has only made up half its budget in sales (23.5 our of $40 million). In fact, this little quote made me laugh a little inside: Also, the movie has since dropped from 13% to a dismal 9% on RT.com. Just thought I'd mention it as a general update.

How does it take her so long to pump out a sequel when she bashed out everything else so fucking quickly?
Also I kinda wanna see the movie now if only to laugh at how bad it is.

I will boycott as well. Don't give her your money... it's not worth the satisfaction.
Also, I'm pretty sure she's done writing and has moved on to producing movies. Fear this, people. Fear it...

Who said I was intending to pay to see the film?
I've stopped watching most Hollywood films anyway, so I couldn't give less of a damn if she's into producing. The real jewels are small-production pieces ...

I suppose, either way, it would convey that I have interest in the movie (it's be stupid to think there isn't someone out there who keeps tabs on pirating numbers), which would only encourage them more ...

But if the company lacks the funds for the project, not to mention a loss in sales for the movie, it'll get canned, no matter how high pirating numbers are.

Very true, but that would require a dwindling number of fans - and if a book is popular enough to warrant a movie, then there are more than enough fans. And you must account for the people who hate the book to go see the movie in theaters, just to be the first to laugh at how bad it is ...

So, for once, her site updated. About Austenland. Here is the official website, in case anyone is interested. It's opening this weekend in New York, Hollywood, and LA, with a limited release in subsequent weeks. I'm curious to know what the reviews are from critics, or if it will get any advertising on TV in the upcoming weeks.
